A Brief Update

I've been taking pictures of the computer rig, and I'm up to around 20 or so I think, but I won't be able to upload them until the end of next week. There's not much left to do on the computer, as I'm actually typing this from it right now, but I'll be receiving a few aesthetic pieces middle of next week. So at the least there will be pictures of it by the end of next week, and perhaps I'll try to write something on the process. As a result of my work on the computer, I haven't been writing too much, but I'll probably just throw up a few lines at the time that I upload pictures.

Found my songbook!

So I've been taking pictures of my computer and realized that I didn't bring my USB connector or card reader with me, but I plan on uploading the pictures later. Should be cool if you're into that kind of thing. As a status update on the computer, it's around 80% complete I would say. It can run, has its updates and whatnot, and just needs to have the panels put on again.

In other news, I found my old songbook with a lot of stuff I wrote from 2006 through 2009 -- '10-'11 I quit writing for a very long time. It has a lot of depressing ones, but a few were funny and nostalgic. I'd like to same a few choice lines.

(I was drunk and much of this was scribbled and illegible)
There is a fire in the room, sucking out my soul
Dude, somebody open a window
Dude, somebody open a window

(Written in '07 [Undated])
I recount the days at the shore
For five years I looked at the mouth
For five short years I thought of the grass
How green it'd be on the other side
Now seven years I think it's more blue
On the shore I looked out to

There are a lot more in there, but I'm too lazy to sort it right now! Perhaps at a later date in time!

A Different Approach?

Well, I was trying to sleep and wasn't doing a very good job of when I had the start of a lyric in my head. I jotted it in my cellphone, but I think that it might be a fun idea to post little pieces of that sorta thing here weekly; especially since I haven't been posting much else anyway.

If my heart were a hand grenade,
You'd probably pull the pin
and watch me die.

So something like that... I think they won't all be that depressing...
Or maybe they will.

Guess we'll find out eventually.

PS: So I looked up if that might have been in any other songs and I guess Green Day had something sort of similar on their new stuff...? Right now I'd pull that pin on myself qq. and also ^^;

Whoops

So May became June, and June skipped over July and became August, and now here we are. I'd like to say, "Oh, yeah, I have so many cool stories and pictures to share with my friends," but that's not what I can say. I can say that I tried to put together my new computer and it didn't work. That I went to Eugene and didn't get sick as a dog. That I wrote up a town for Medievia and applied for a building position. Yet, through the ether of the Internet, I can still feel your eyes glassing over. Stuff has happened, but it hasn't been exciting stuff.

The exciting things have yet to come! Matt shall return in two weeks, and there shall be merriment and lounging around! Huzzah!

Been also thinking of getting a new acoustic; maybe a twelve-string or smaller bodied one. Also, want a stationary bike. So, if those things happen expect to see some pictures here. Now I'll close out with a silly song I wrote at 3AM.

Goodbye Sun
Hello Moon
Why are there stars in this room?
Spin, spin, spin
The world's a floor

Goodbye Club
Hello Car
Why is my place oh so far?
Spin, spin, spin
The street's a blur

So long time
I'm half past dead
Who is this person in my bed?
Spin, spin, spin
Love's a dream

Goodbye Moon
Hello Sun
Should I tell her I have to run?
Wake, wake, wake
Pancakes in bed
Wake, wake, wake
Pancakes in bed

Stabilization

So. After my last post a month ago... I wished Matt & Laura well and then I got incredibly sick with flu/pneumonia or something wickedly bad. After a week of coughing, a few boxes of tissue, two bags of ricola and a box of theraflu I had just a small cough. So I went back to my mom's and took some time 'til I felt 100% better.

I haven't done much in the way of photos but.... Eh, no promises -- I'll see what I can do. Don't really want to just pop some photos from the web. Did some cooking but nothing that looks scrumptious or anything: just about 2-3 pounds of stuffing and a pot roast. I'll be making some soup and try to take some pictures of that later on. Yeah.

What else...?

Medievia.com - Do You DARE Enter?

Started playing Med again... After many years off... and then few months on... and now a few years later I'm back! It's interesting to see how the game has changed over the years but it's nice that it still feels familiar. If on the off chance you try playing let me know and I'll help you out. I know that's like a 1% chance but hey, whatever.

Finished the cutting on my computer case so now all that's left is to paint so I'll update that as it goes. Should be sometime this summer when the weather is fair and whatnot!

Reclaiming the jungle

So it has been about two weeks and I thought it was about time for an update before my blog hit a relapse. I've been busy moving a lot of things into my apartment: restocking food stuffs from Costco, furniture from Ikea, and also a small set of shelves I got. I've assembled almost all of the Ikea and shelves, but now my apartment is covered in cardboard boxes so I don't feel like uploading pictures of that... The good news is that the new furniture looks good and I'm liking it quite a bit -- especially the new coffee table! I'll probably cook something over the weekend -- hopefully have my apartment cleaned up too -- so maybe some pictures will be posted soon.

Shout out to Maro and Roro! Safe travels!!

Mod Update #1.5

No news about the truck, but today I bought a $3 pack of weatherstrip foam. I'm hoping that it will reduce vibrations and help noise down -- If it works then I'll be quite pleased and if it doesn't then oh well.

Edit (4/9): The first photo shows the foam tape I used and the second photo hopefully you'll notice the thin strips of tape in the front -- I used 3 strips so the edges of the fan would be snug -- and also wanted to mention that this is the hard drive bay of the case and that the design is supposed to remove the heat from drives by blowing it out the front (reversed air flow).

3 bucks. Sounds good to me!

Mod Update #1

Just got back into town but the truck is still out of commission. Less than ideal but at least we got some pictures!

Cat is all like.... Sup? Yeah.

So basically I wrapped up the plates with painters tape and then copied over my templates. Used a Dremel 100 (Single speed) to make all the cuts, used a hand file to try and get them straight as I could and then began sanding them. I made some mistakes and that's why I decided to sand down to the bare aluminum for those two panels, but I think for the other side panel and front bezel I won't be sanding to the bare aluminum. As for now my window and top panels are ready for some priming.

Not sure when I'll be priming and painting since I haven't secured a place to spray... I'm reluctant to paint on the ground... I'll think of something I suppose. Plenty of time.

Punctual Posting

Got a little bit of free time to write another quite post, but without pictures for now. I brought my camera with me to take pictures of case mod progress but I didn't bring the cord with me to upload -- so expect those when I return to Astoria. For now I'll give a brief and humorless rundown on what is going on right now.

Right now my truck is in the shop and the diagnosis is something about mist or emissions in the engine.. So I guess I have a poltergeist in my truck and won't be able to drive it back to Astoria for awhile. Might drive back tomorrow without the truck, but we'll see how that goes.

So the case I am modifying is a Lian-Li A05Nb -- Link has the specs if you're curious about it. This is the first time I've done a case mod and I've tried to research a lot in preparation, but I don't have any experience in cutting or painting metal. So anyway, my plan is to cut a 120mm fan slot into the top of the case, cut an 8x10" window into the right hand side of the case and back it with fiberglass, and then to put any art and design on the left hand panel. I'll be using white as the primary color with red and black as the secondary.

Currently, I have cut the window, fan slot and sanded down those panels to the bare aluminum. I didn't really mean to do that extra step but didn't properly tape edges after the cuts so my sanding really went to town on those... Still the work is coming along nicely. Don't know when I'll be nearing completion of the project but I'll have more pictures coming soon.

Whoa. Time travel.

Took that shot Feb. 16th, 2011.

Modifying a computer case. Pictures for now but I'll add in more when I slow down.
